Simone Weil handwriting

Dear blog,

I have spent my life teaching myself to read. Reading a text, a recurrence.

A good reading is reading from different perspectives.

Today I pray not only to learn how to learn, but to learn how to apprehend. You cannot read Simone Weil without first learning her alphabet.

Every good writer has his/her personal alphabet. I have spent the last few weeks deciphering what it means to pay attention in Simone Weil’s alphabet. I have spent the same amount of time learning the meaning and implications of the word affliction in her alphabet. I am certain that once I get it right, I will be able to navigate her Gravity and Grace, without getting lost.

Simone Weil was a character of painful honesty, sometimes unbearable for her own readers. I am both blissed out and frightened by the first babblings in her world. This way, her way. I saw her handwriting, my heart leapt with tenderness. Her handwriting is beautiful.
