My dearest Mrs U.,
It’s been a long time since we last spoke, and I have to say, life has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride since then. I find myself in a new country, chasing down leads for a case that’s more twisted than a pretzel.
But before I get into that, let me catch you up on what’s been happening. As you know, I fled Venezuela with the FBI’s promise of immunity and protection. But as it turns out, the Department of Justice made a deal with some of the higher-ups in the diplomatic world and decided to dismiss the case of El Pollo. So now, I’m on my own, relying on the skills I honed as a detective in the Homicide department of the CPTJ.
But I’m not alone in this new country. Agent Morgan, a transgender agent who I’ve fallen for, has been giving me small cases to work on as a private eye. It’s not quite the same as the high stakes of the CPTJ, but it’s enough to keep me busy and keep my skills sharp.
And now, I find myself with a new case. A Bishop from the Catholic Church has asked me to investigate a mystical Carmelite who’s been gaining influence among the youth. Some in the Church want her recognized as a Saint, while others consider her an heretic nun and want her banned. It’s a complex case, and I’m not sure which side to believe.
But as I dig deeper, I’m starting to see that this case is about more than just religion. It’s about power, corruption, and the struggle for control. And it’s reminding me of why I became a detective in the first place – to uncover the truth, no matter how ugly it may be.
So here I am, in a new country, chasing down leads and trying to make sense of a case that seems to get more complicated by the day. But even in the midst of all this chaos, I can’t help but think of you, and wonder where life has taken you.
I hope this letter finds you well, and I hope that wherever you are, you’re living life on your own terms.
Yours truly,
Ruben Tenorio
